About Dame Vivian Hunt

Dame Vivian Hunt was named chief innovation officer of Optum in October 2022. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Hunt was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, where she led the Life Sciences practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and, more recently, served as the managing partner of the United Kingdom and Ireland. 

During her career, Hunt worked in the health care industry to help tackle complex issues in the public and private sectors. In addition to her client responsibilities, Hunt led research on productivity, leadership, stakeholder capitalism and ESG. 

Hunt started her career in the Peace Corps, serving as a midwife in rural Senegal. Before this, she attended Harvard College and later received an MBA from Harvard Business School.

In 2018, Hunt was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the economy and women in business.
